Love Is In The Air: How To Prepare For The Valentine’s Rush

It’s the run-up to Valentine's day, and with many customers wanting last-minute appointments to get themselves looking and feeling their best, your schedule is probably jam-packed.

Coordinating yourself and your team at this stage is important if you want to keep stress levels down during the busier days. So we’ve compiled a list of tips that will help you get through the rush. Cupid, eat your heart out…

Get organised

Make sure you plan accordingly for the days leading up to the 14th. Do you need more staff? Do you need to arrange overtime? Have you got enough products? Create a list of everything you’ll need for the day, and if you have a special deal or offer on, make sure you take that into consideration when stocking up.

Keep your appointments book up to date, and even consider making it accessible online for the entire team. That way, everyone can easily see the capacity of other staff members and divide up appointments evenly. It’ll help to reduce any friction that might be caused by pressure being placed on one person.

Incorporate run-over times

Nothing ever goes as planned, does it? Some appointments might take a bit longer than you anticipated, so it’s a good idea to give more leeway than usual on allotted times if you want to maintain your customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Not only will this save the stress of running over into another clients’ time and not giving them your usual exceptional service, but having back-to-back appointments can also make you feel more exhausted. This often means you’re more likely to make mistakes, so it’s always worth taking a breather before you get stuck into something else.

Encourage breaks

Even though you may not feel like you have time to take a break, it's essential that you do. Hunger can cause stress levels to rise, and being on your feet for over eight hours can leave you too worn out to perform well the next day.

Create a dedicated time for you and your employees to sit back, rehydrate and have a healthy, filling meal – ideally together. Your bodies will thank you for it, and you’ll have enough energy for the weekend ahead.

Offer wellbeing activities

You could also offer a range of wellbeing activities for your staff to participate in after a long day at work.

Yoga and meditation are just two that you could suggest, and sessions are usually quite cheap and widely available. You could additionally have a team social after the Valentine’s rush as a reward for all the hard work your staff will have put in over the busy period.
