What Can You Offer Salon Customers In The New Normal?

What Can You Offer Salon Customers In The New Normal?

During these trying times, many are turning to salons to bring back some normality to their lives. From fixing DIY haircuts to waxing and manicures, the UK is in dire need of a bit of a tidy-up.

But how do you try and get back to business as usual with all the new rules and regulations? We’ve made your life just a little bit easier by creating a helpful guide on how to make your salon safe, whilst still keeping the charm your customers are used to.

Clear the clutter

Clear out things you know might be touched by multiple people, such as magazines, newspapers and leaflets, and suggest that customers bring their own drinks with them. Alternatively, you could offer a compostable cup for coffee and tea, and ask clients to either take it with them and dispose of it at home or use a dedicated bin. Whatever you do, offering beverages in mugs is a big no-no.

Set up a sanitising station

Having a table near the entrance for customers to sanitise their hands, and grab a mask if they need one, will reduce the chance of germs spreading within your salon. Make sure you have disposable wipes, hand sanitiser and another dedicated bin nearby. Bins that can be opened by the foot are a better choice, as they reduce the areas of contact for customers.

Offer free face coverings

Even though face coverings are compulsory in many indoor areas and customers should have their own, it’s a good idea to keep a pack of disposable ones on hand for both clients and staff. It only takes one person without a mask to spread the disease, and this could otherwise have been easily prevented. So be prepared. And if you’d like to go above and beyond, why not invest in some washable masks for your staff? They can even match their beauty uniform and have your business’ logo on.

Decorate with wall art

Without any magazines or newspapers lying about and giving some character to your salon, you need to provide some entertainment for waiting guests. You could decorate the walls with new pieces of art or posters instead. Or perhaps you’d rather add shelves to promote products, or place a candle or two to create a relaxing atmosphere away from the outside world. You could also invest in a small mounted TV to help pass the time as you clean down your areas between appointments.

Create a soothing playlist

Your choice of music can also help your clients to unwind. Although you can use Spotify or your usual Apple Music account to create a playlist for your salon, there is a better alternative – designed specifically for businesses in mind. Soundtrack is an easy-to-use app with a range of playlists already available. All you have to do is download the app and choose a subscription!
